Keep Dreaming
"Only the shaman knows that Culture is a Game. Everyone else takes it seriously. That's how he can do his magic." ~ Terence McKenna
Lately, when I tap into the matrix (by opening my phone and reading the news or peeking at Twitter) I am reminded of the game that we are all so conditioned to. That we consider normal. It goes something like this:
We are given a narrative and then we spiral into a state of reaction to said narrative. We are told that our situation is inevitable and our salvation lies outside of ourselves. We give our power away and we continue to weave the spell of separation by repeating the mantras sold to us. And yet, even in this state of hijacked consciousness and reaction, humanity’s creativity still shines through. Look at memes! Tik Tok! And so much more.
To consider that we are architects of our own reality is, to many, magical thinking. But we are. We consent to this current paradigm by agreeing to its limitations. I have chosen to deal with this by slowly taking my power back. By deleting social media, reading poetry in the morning instead of looking at my phone, reading the actual scientific study after reading a headline, and practicing deep discernment. When we hold the intellect in higher regard than our intuition we create an incredibly unbalanced and limiting view of reality. Energetic hygiene is when I call back my energy and let go of energy that does not belong to me. I seal up my energy and state clear intentions of what it is I want to experience and create in my day and what I will allow into my field. I hone my own frequency. I practice Divine Neutrality, where I observe without judgement and attachment. The more I practice the more my reality shifts. I am still existing in the current paradigm, but it doesn’t hook me.
This often has me feeling like an alien, as I have no interest in discussing the current political outrage, or reacting to the circus of perceived separation. I want to talk to you about your dreams, your passions and what excites you. What do you want to CREATE in this world? Not what you are against, but what lights you up!?. Let’s weave a new reality into existence that serves the highest good of all beings. For me that reality includes connecting with people who want to live in closer communion with the Earth, who are creating alternative ways of living and being and who are tapping in to the innate intelligence of their Divine nature. I am a work in progress. I don’t assume to know better than anyone else and I am certain that I know very little. As I opened this post with another’s words I will close with one of my favorite poems by Oriah Mountain Dreamer. Keep dreaming friends. This time on Earth has been prophesied for many centuries. We are here to come together. We are here to save ourselves.
It doesn't interest me
what you do for a living.
I want to know
what you ache for
and if you dare to dream
of meeting your heart's longing.
It doesn't interest me
how old you are.
I want to know
if you will risk
looking like a fool
for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn’t interest me
what planets are
squaring your moon...
I want to know
if you have touched
the centre of your own sorrow
if you have been opened
by life's betrayals
or have become shrivelled and closed
from fear of further pain.
I want to know
if you can sit with pain
mine or your own
without moving to hide it
or fade it
or fix it.
I want to know
if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you
to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us
to be careful
to be realistic
to remember the limitations
of being human.
It doesn't interest me
if the story you are telling me
is true.
I want to know if you can
disappoint another
to be true to yourself.
If you can bear
the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see Beauty
even when it is not pretty
every day.
And if you can source your own life
from its presence.
I want to know
if you can live with failure
yours and mine
and still stand at the edge of the lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon,
"Yes."
It doesn't interest me
to know where you live
or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up
after the night of grief and despair
weary and bruised to the bone
and do what needs to be done
to feed the children.
It doesn't interest me
who you know
or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand
in the centre of the fire
with me
and not shrink back.
It doesn't interest me
where or what or with whom
you have studied.
I want to know
what sustains you
from the inside
when all else falls away.
I want to know
if you can be alone
with yourself
and if you truly like
the company you keep
in the empty moments.
